Presentation of ‘Letters of Credence’ by His Excellency Ram Kaji Khadka, Ambassador of Nepal to His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany

His Excellency Mr. Ram Kaji Khadka, Ambassador of Nepal to the Federal Republic of Germany, presented his ‘Letters of Credence’ to His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany today amidst a special ceremony held at Schloss Bellevue.

Ambassador Khadka was received in audience by the President of Germany following the presentation of ‘Letters of Credence’. During the audience, Ambassador Khadka conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes from the Right Honourable Bidya Devi Bhandari, President, and the Right Honourable K P Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal, to the President of Germany for his personal good health and happiness as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Germany.

His Excellency Mr. Khadka in response to the curiosity of His Excellency the President shared the current political developments in Nepal, geopolitics, priorities of the Government of Nepal in the face of COVID-19 global pandemic, vaccination campaign initiated by the Government of Nepal, the requirement of international support for early availability of vaccines including through COVAX mechanism, capacities of hospitals and labs to cope with the current crisis, infection, recovery and death rates and the economic challenges that Nepal is facing including in tourism sector. Furthermore, he thanked the Government of Germany for its continued support in Nepal’s pursuit of sustainable and inclusive socio-economic transformation. His Excellency also thanked the Government of Germany for its support in the fight against pandemic.

His Excellency the President of Germany appreciated the excellent relations existing between Nepal and Germany. The President also expressed his happiness on successful visit of German First Lady Mrs. Elke Budenbender to Nepal last year. He expressed his concern regarding the COVID-19 global pandemic and availability of vaccines as a global public good while highlighting the German government’s additional funding to COVAX initiative including the support extended to countries like Nepal.

High ranking officials of the Government of Germany including the State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office, His Excellency Miguel Berger were also present at the ceremony.

During the ceremony, His Excellency Mr. Khadka was accompanied by his spouse.
