The Embassy of Nepal only issues the following types of ETA and Official/Diplomatic Visas:

1) ETA for Tourist                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            FAQ on ETA
2) ETA 30 days Gratis for Child (Children below 10 years) and ETA 30 days Gratis for NRN card holder
3) Diplomatic/Official Visa 30 days

Visa Extension- A tourist visa can be extended at the Department of Immigration, Kathmandu or the Immigration Office, Pokhara for a maximum period of 150 days in a single visa year (January – December).

The applicant must fill in all the information requested in the application form (Upload photo of the page no. 1 of the valid passport and passport size image of the applicant). The slip generated should mention the Embassy of Nepal, Berlin on the top left corner (Confirms that your application is submitted).

Required Documents

1. Printed copy of the slip generated confirming submission of an Online Visa Application.
2. Original passport with at least six months validity
3. Passport must contain at least 2 blank visa pages.
4. A proof of the transfer of the Visa Fee to the account of the Embassy mentioned below.
5. Pre-paid return Envelope with Tracking number (Registered Post, DHL, UPS, etc.)
6. Inside Germany, those return envelopes with the postal stamps sufficient for register post, will only be accepted. (Do not buy the stamps with particular date at the post office – It’s not valid for sending it back).

Application Procedure:

Applicant must mail the above mentioned documents to the address of the Embassy of Nepal in Berlin. Visa once issued cannot be withdrawn, visa fees cannot be refunded once visa is issued. The visa expires in six months after the date of issue.

Application Processing Time:
5  Business days (Estimate additional days as per the postal service booked).

Note: The Embassy shall not be responsible for the loss and damage of any documents while returning due to a weak envelope enough to bear the load of the documents or any other incidents that may occur during handling of the documents by postal office/courier.

Nationals of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and China will get tourist visa free of charge for a maximum period of 30 days in a given visa year (January-December).

Besides the Embassy, tourist visas can also be obtained from the Honorary Consulates of Nepal in Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Cologne.

Except any travel restriction imposed by the government of Nepal, citizens of EU can also obtain a visa on arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and other entry points as mentioned below.

Diplomatic and Official Visas

  • The Embassy can issue visa for foreign diplomatic and official passport holders for a maximum period of 30 days.
    • When applying for a Diplomatic or Official Visa, please submit the following documents:
    • Original Diplomatic or Official Passport with at least six months’ validity.
    • One recent biometric photograph.
    • Note Verbale with recommendation from the concerned Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Diplomatic Mission.
    • Duly filled in Visa Application Form (available at the Embassy or download from this webpage)

Pet Travel Notice

Required docuemts:

  1. International animal health certificate issued by competent authority
  2. Vaccination record (vaccination against Rabies is compulsory)
  3. Microchip identification number of the pet (pest shoould be microchipped for identification)
  4. Copy of the pet-owner’s passport
  5. Invoice or proof of pet ownership

Upon arrival at the airport:

Visit the animal quarantine checkpost with your pet for quarantine process with the above mentioned docuements. After completing the quarantine process owner should visit the custom clerance.
