E-Passport
The Embassy of Nepal, Berlin, has started enrolment for e-Passport and associated services from April 25, 2022. This requires Nepali nationals to be Physically Present at the Embassy for live enrolment. (Note: Applications by mail will no longer be accepted. Applicants without prior appointment will not be able to submit their application at the Embassy. Date and time slot of appointment for the Embassy visit should be selected while filling up the application form. No separate email or telephone call for appointment is needed.)
Please complete the application form: Click Here (Appointment slots on Saturday & Sunday can only be booked by the applicants for the upcoming mobile passport camp in Frankfurt am Main, not for the enrollment in Berlin as the Embassy will be closed on every Saturday and Sunday)
& get the print out of the filled up form and visit the Embassy in person with the following documents on the date of your appointment.
Delivery of New passport: Once the Embassy receives a new passport, the applicants will get an automatic email from the Passport Department in Kathmandu for pick-up from the Embassy. Applicants should send their current passport for cancellation, which will be returned with the new one as per the postal arrangement.
APPLICANTS WITHOUT FILLED ONLINE E-PASSPORT APPLICATION FORM AND APPOINTMENT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
For Renewal
- Printed application form (PDF)
- Original passport and a photocopy
- Original Nepali citizenship card and a photocopy
- Revenue fee Euro 120 (for 34 & 64 pages)
- No extra photo needed
- Fee can be transferred three days before the visit to the Embassy. Card payment is not possible at the Embassy. However, Cash Payment is possible.
(Please bring a Self-addressed prepaid (Insured one is recommended) return envelope with the tracking number. (Not required for Self-Pickup)
(Applicants above 16 years without citizenship certificate due to not being able to travel to Nepal to obtain such certificate can apply for passport renewal with validity of 2 years. Such applicants should submit minor certificate in place of citizenship certificate. Rest of the requirement remains the same as above)
For Replacement (in case of lost/stolen/damaged)
- Printed application form
- Photocopy of lost/stolen/damaged passport
- Original Nepali citizenship card and a photocopy
- A police report in case of lost passport (The report must contain the name of the passport holder and lost passport number).
- Fee can be transferred three days before the visit to the Embassy. Card payment is not possible at the Embassy. However, Cash Payment is possible.
- Revenue fee Euro 240 (for 34 & 64 pages)
- Please bring Self-addressed prepaid (Insured one is recommended) return envelope with tracking number (Not required for Self-Pickup).
For Minor/New-born
- Printed application form
- Birth Certificate issued by the competent authorities of the country of birth for the first time applicant at the Embassy. For those who have already obtained the passport under this clause, it is mandatory to submit the Minor Identity Card issued from the Concerned District/Area Administration offices in Nepal for renewal.
- Photocopies of personal data page of passports and current immigration status of both the parents
- Photocopies of the citizenship certificate of both the parents
- Copy of marriage certificate of parents
- 4 Biometric Photos

- 34 & 64 pages passport Euro 60 for minor under 10 years (Euro 120 for minors aged above 10 years)
- In case of new-born, additional fee of 50 Euro for the Birth Registration Certificate
- Fee will be doubled in case of lost/damaged passport
- Fee can be transferred three days before the visit to the Embassy. Card payment is not possible at the Embassy. However, Cash Payment is possible.
- All above mentioned documents to be sent via post to the Embassy’s address
- While sending the documets, enclose a Self-addressed prepaid (Insured one is recommended) return envelope with the tracking number or equivalent postal fee on Cash (Not required for Self-Pickup and Germany).
Instructions to fill out the Form:
- Enter https://emrtds.nepalpassport.gov.np/ on your browser.
- Choose among First Issuance/Renewal/ Replacement (Lost/Stolen)/Replacement (Damaged)
- Select Ordinary (34 pages) or one of the available options and then click on proceed.
- Select ‘ I agree ‘
- Fill up your required details under the different subheadings. Please note that applicants in Germany and the concurrently accredited countries are not mandatorily required to fill up their NIN (National ID Number). You can skip the field if you do not have National ID number.
- Upload separate scanned copies of your Nepali citizenship card (front and back). Also, upload scanned copies of your MRP passport’ s personal data page (Page 2 and Page 3) and back page (Page 30 and Page 31). You are also required to upload a scanned copy of your marriage certificate in case your current surname has changed because of your marriage. Similarly, you are required to upload a scanned copy of your migration certificate in case your permanent address is other than mentioned in your citizenship card.
- Click on ‘Book Your Appointment’ and select NE, Berlin as your option and select your preferred date and time. (Please note that if you do not visit the Embassy on your scheduled date and time, the Embassy will no longer be able to receive your application. In that case, you are required to schedule a new appointment.)
- Then submit the form and download it.
- Please print a copy of the form as it should be submitted along with your application at the Embassy.
- Please note that the applicants applying for the renewal/replacement of a lost/damaged/stolen passport should fill up the details in the form as per the details in the existing passport.
Application processing time
1-2 months (All the applicants will get an automatic email from the Passport Department in Kathmandu, once the passport arrives at the Embassy, No extra call required)
Applicable for renewal of the passport: Those whose expiry date is less than one year or all the pages are used.
